In 2012, Henriksen Contracting was hired by Peterson Contractors, Inc. to perform the saw cutting for a reconstruction project on I-35 in Polk County. This project consisted of the removal of the asphalt shoulder for lane widening. The sawing was done at night on a very busy stretch of I35 between Des Moines and Ames. An average of 1,000 feet per hour was maintained throughout the project with 2 saws. The first saw made the initial cut at a depth of about 2.5” followed by the second saw going full depth, from 2.5” to 6”.
